Of course, there are questions. Here are the most common ones that have come to our attention:
Question: How much will the new fire station cost to build?
Answer: Please see inset levy budget overview, below.
Question: What is the anticipated date for the new fire station to be operational?
Answer: The Fire Chief and the commissioners hope to have it completed by the end of 2025 (Before the next flood season) but too early to know for sure at this point.
Question: How much money will be needed annually to operate the new fire station?
Answers: The current budget for operating the Sucia Dr. fire station will be transferred over for operation of the new fire station.
The Fire District has identified 1.25 buildable acres on Slater Road for the proposed fire station.
This property is being offered to the Fire District under an irrevocable zero cost lease by Phillips 66 refinery.
The first step in planning for any building is to identify issues with the property.
The Property Parcel, Buildable Site and potential wetland impacts are shown within the proposed property parcel.

A note from the WCFD17 Levy Committee
Aside from simple conjecture, some residents have posted what might be construed to be misinformation. The letter (below) is from WCFD 7 (Ferndale) to WCFD 17 (Sandy Point/et al) addressing a Q&A meeting between the Ferndale Fire Department and residents, who later posted their "findings" to social media.
From a little South of here, this is what others have experienced.

We are the First Responders when something goes wrong.
Do those matter, if the First Responder is coming from Ferndale or Bellingham: You need medical attention within 10 minutes, and the nearest available responder is 16 minutes away?
